Double diamond joy for happy couples
A DOUBLE diamond worked wonders for matching sisters Margery Foxley and Sylvia Jones, celebrating 60 years of wedded happiness on the same day.
The pair joined together for a double wedding and now aged 80 the grandmothers signal their diamond milestone with a wander down memory lane, a frisk to the church where they tied the knot and a look through their wedding albums.
Retired accounts clerk Margery, of Wicklow Lock up, Halesowen , met her engineering worker husband Ron, now aged 83, at a skip, and they have three daughters and seven grandchildren.
Sylvia and her husband Dennis, also grey 83, live in Handsworth Wood, and have a son and a daughter and four grandchildren, having met at a structure firm in Birmingham where they both worked.
The couples married at St Peter’s Church, Harborne, but honeymooned severally in Torquay and Minehead.
“I guess it is quite unusual for double commingling couples to both reach their diamond anniversaries.
“Sylvia and I have been very propitious really and we’ve never had a cross word,” said Dennis.
Ron added that the unpublished to a happy marriage was choosing the right partner and “getting on with lifestyle.”
