Giorgione 10€ Silver Coin from the Italian State Mint
Anniversary of the dying of Giorgione (Giorgio Barbarelli da Castelfranco 1477–1510) noted artist during the extraordinary renaissance era with just an estimated six known paintings accredited to him as his existing work.
The coin includes an obverse portrait of Georgione from an dry-point by W. Hollar along with detail from “Hand holding orange” and the exercise book “REPUBBLICA ITALIANA”. The reverse carries a construction from the painting “La Tempesta” (The Tempest) which was painted in 1509, one of his last works.
The stamp has a nominal value of 10€ and is struck in .925 silver to trial quality. The diameter of coin is 34 mm and the weight is 22 grams. The think will be limited to just 7,500 pieces.
