Data use among Android phones outpaces the iPhone by 25 percent
AT&T has been assailed over the act of its 3G network, but much of that has been attributed to the iPhone's data sucking capabilities. That said, Verizon users should be on top of the world that they don't have as many Android devices on their network, based on this report.The account, by Validas , a firm which uses phone bills to try to "goodness-size" consumers' service plans, analyzed observations from users of BlackBerrys, Verizon smartphone 9but non-BlackBerry) users, and iPhones. According to their statistics, Verizon smartphone users use about 450MB of data a month, while iPhone users generally 350MB of data, and BlackBerry users across all carriers averaged less than 50MB per month.
BlackBerry users, we would presumption, rely on their devices mostly for email, while users of current start smartphone platforms (such as iOS, webOS, or Android) use them for a wide disparity of purposes.
Why, however, would Verizon smartphone users be so far ahead of iPhone users, more than 25 percent, in truth? It seems that Android users are geekier than iPhone users. iPhone users are more insouciant, said Ed Finegold, chief analytics officer at Validas.

Verizon's new Android owners are using far more materials than AT&T's iPhone users, says a new study. But both populations look like megabyte junkies compared to BlackBerry owners. Here are the reasons why.
The review by Validas, a research firm that gathers data from phone bills, shows that Verizon subscribers who have quick phones (but not BlackBerrys) power through an average of 450MB per month, up more than duplicated from last fall, before Verizon's Droid-branded Android activity hit the market. In the same period, iPhone users averaged about 350MB of materials consumption, while BlackBerry users across all carriers were averaging less than 50MB.
When we asked for a plausible reason for the 100MB difference between Android on Verizon and iPhone on AT&T, Ed Finegold, chief analytics policewoman at Validas, gave us two:
1. There are far more iPhone users on AT&T than there are Android users on Verizon, perhaps 10 times as many. Verizon is "attracting a lot of hardcore geeks that as a matter of fact want to push the limits of these devices," says Finegold. "The iPhone's been around longer, and there are a lot more dispassionate users."
2. Android currently attracts power users, where the iPhone may approach people in for other reasons. "There's such a bling factor with the iPhone," says Finegold. "People desire it for the social statement that it makes more than for the techno power in their keep."
